About
Allie Cabal (b. 1999, Panama City, Panama) is a self-taught contemporary artist working predominantly in oil and acrylic. Her paintings explore themes of identity, repression, and estrangement, shaped by a peripatetic lifestyle and years spent within the modeling industry.
Drawing on the illustrative language of René Magritte and M.C. Escher, Cabal translates their visual logic into a distinctly greyscale, surrealist, and figurative practice: a body of work concerned with self-actualization, escapism, and the ongoing negotiation between who we present and who we are.
Cabal held her first solo exhibition at Ki Smith Gallery in 2023. She currently lives and works in New York City.
